8 ADVANTAGES AND 9 DISADVANTAGES OF THE PIE CHART

8 ADVANTAGES AND 9 DISADVANTAGES OF THE PIE CHART A pie chart or circle chart is a circular statistical chart graph, which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportions. While it is named for its resemblances to a pie which have been sliced, there is a variation in the way it can be presented. Advantages of pie chart: display relative proportions of multiple classes of  data . require minimum addition explanations summarize a large data set into visual form. pie charts are easily understood due to its widespread use in business and media pie charts permit a visual check of the reasonableness or accuracy of the calculation. pie charts are visually simpler than other types of graphs. size of the circle can be made proportional to the quantity it represents. disadvantages of pie chart: it does not easily reveal exact values. Values are expressed in terms of percentages or ratio therefore it is not easy to know the exact value represented the pie chart does not easi...

11 Differences in the tourism sector between Kenya and Switzerland

11 Differences in the tourism sector between Kenya and Switzerland Switzerland  receives more tourists and thus earns more revenue compared to  Kenya . Kenya  has a variety of scenery and landscape with physical features e.g. the  Rift Valley , lakes, mountains, lakes, plains and rivers while in  Switzerland , the Alps is the main physical feature that attracts tourists. Kenya’s only snow-capped  mountain  (Mt. Kenya) is too high and steep thus less suitable for mountain sports while the Swiss has large and smooth slopes covered with snow during winter for such sports. Kenya  has a seafront with warm waters for sun/sand bathing, swimming, surfing, and yachting whereas  Switzerland  is landlocked – lacks a sea front/has no access to beaches and associated sports. In  Switzerland  domestic  tourism  is more pronounced than in Kenya due to high levels of income. In  Kenya  animals are kept in game ...

What is the role of transport in the development of trade in Malawi?

What is the role of transport in the development of trade in Malawi? Transport plays a crucial role in the development of trade in Malawi. As a landlocked country, Malawi heavily relies on transportation infrastructure and logistics networks to connect with regional and international markets. Here are several key roles of transport in trade development in Malawi: Facilitating movement of goods An efficient transport system enables the smooth movement of goods from production centers to markets. It allows businesses to access raw materials, distribute finished products, and respond to market demands effectively. Access to regional and international markets Well-developed transport infrastructure, including road, rail, and air connections, provides access to regional markets such as neighboring countries in Southern Africa and international markets beyond the region. This connectivity expands trade opportunities and promotes economic integration. Reduction of transportation costs E...

7 CAUSES OF TEMPERATURE INVERSION

href="https://geographypoin When  temperature inversion  occurs, cold air underlies warmer air at higher altitudes.     Normally, temperature decreases with an increase in elevation. It is called the normal lapse rate. At times, the situation is reversed and the normal lapse rate is inverted. It is called Inversion of temperature. Inversion is usually of short duration but quite common nonetheless. A long winter night with clear skies and still air is an ideal situation for inversion. The heat of the day is radiated off during the night, and by early morning hours, the earth is cooler than the air above. Over polar areas, a temperature inversion is normal throughout the year. Surface inversion promotes stability in the lower layers of the  atmosphere . Smoke and dust particles get collected beneath the inversion layer and spread horizontally to fill the lower strata of the atmosphere. Dense  fogs  in the mornings are common occurrences, e...

FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE TEMPERATURE OF AN AREA

FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE TEMPERATURE OF AN AREA Different areas in  East Africa  experience varying temperatures. Some areas experience extremely hot  temperatures  of over 30o c. They include Northeastern  Uganda , Northern  Kenya , the  rift valley  areas, and the coastal areas. Other areas experience very low/cool temperatures especially the mountainous or highland areas such as the Kenya highlands, Kigezi highlands, Mt  Kilimanjaro , Mt Rwenzori, Mt Meru ,  and Mt Elgon among others. Several factors influence temperature or contribute to the variations in the temperature in E.Africa and they include: Altitude It refers to the height of the land above sea level.  Temperatures  tend to drop as altitude increases by approximately 6.5o c for every 1000 metres of ascent/rise. Due to this  lapse rate  effect, highland areas like Mt Rwenzori, Kenya, and  Kilimanjaro  experience low temperatures while l...

Reasons for the Coming of Christian Missionaries in East Africa

Missionaries came to East Africa for various reasons. These were economic, social, and humanitarian in nature.  The missionaries had the ambition to spread Christianity to the people of East Africa. This would be through preaching and teaching the holy gospel so that many would get converted to Christianity  They wanted to fight against slave trade in East Africa. Earlier travelers like John Speke and James Grant, H.M. Stanley, Dr. David Livingstone and others had reported about the evils of slave trade in East Africa. Christian missionaries therefore came with an intention of putting an end to end introducing or replacing it with legitimate trade.  Missionaries wanted to resettle the freed slaves in East Africa by setting up resettlement centers both in the interior and at the coast for example at Bagamoyo and Free town near Mombasa.  They wanted to check on the spread of Islam in East Africa from the coast with intentions of converting many to Christian...

PROBLEMS THAT NATIONALISTS FACED IN EAST AFRICA DURING THEIR STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE

The following are problems that nationalist faced during the struggle for independence in East Africa Lack of enough funds to carry out their activities in their respective countries.  Ethnicity was still strong in some countries, for example Uganda. this made it difficult to mobilize for a national cause.  The natives of East Africa were still too poor and therefore were pre-occupied with the need for money than political work.  Too many people were illiterate hence they could not easily understand the work of nationalists.  Inadequate communication networks in most East African countries.  Most of the natives of East Africa were rural dwellers who were less concerned with nationalistic struggles.  Malice and sabotage from colonial governments. They would ban trade unions and political parties.   The inferiority complex was still high among the East African people. They feared the whites greatly.  Leadership wrangles were too common am...
