ThiswasbecausechiefscouldengageintradeandexploitwealthfromitforexamplechiefMirambo ofNyamwezi.Thiscreatedinequalitybetweenthosewhoparticipated(chiefs)againsttheirsubjects whichrankedchiefstobeinhigherclassleavingotherstobelowerclass. 3. Itledtothespreadofpolygamy;aftertheintroductionofslavetradeinEastAfrica,polygamous practicesbecamecommon.Thiswasbecauseslavetradewashedoutmen.Asaresult,therewasa scarcityofmeninnumberastheyoutcompetedmenintermsofratio.Therefore,theyhadnoother optionratherthanmorethanonewifetoshareonemanhenceviolatingorinterruptingthesocialculturalpre-colonialsocietiesofeastAfrica 4.
